During my inpatient stay in the adolescent psychiatric ward at Southlake in 2022 I was unfortunately assigned Dr. Enchin as my psychiatrist. I was 16 at the time, severely suicidal and depressed. Following a 20 minute conversation about my mood and current state of mind, Dr. Enchin informed my mother I would be fine if I “just did [my] work”. No consultation, no assessment, nothing… I had even previously started an assessment with one of the other psychiatrists, but she went on vacation so I was reassigned. During my time with the first psychiatrist we discussed BPD, social anxiety and depression, she even had me completing assessment tools/quizzes. There was a working diagnosis for BPD but when I was transferred to Enchin all of that was dropped and never discussed again. It’s been 3 years since and I now have diagnoses of ADHD (which happened to be the cause if the depression and suicidal ideation, I’m now aware of the fact that I’m not just a useless tit and actually have a developmental disorder), social phobia, along with BPD traits and autistic traits. I was shit on by the system for adolescents by CYW’s, psychiatrists and nurses until I turned 18 and finally had a psychiatrist actually listen to what I had to say. So to anyone who wants to help their kids, I would never recommend Southlake Hospital or Enchin.
